History of our school

Dronfield Infant School is a co-educational day school admitting up to 90 children in each year group. The school was opened in 1926 and has had classrooms and other facilities added over the years. A well kept garden is a hidden treasure within the school. Many opportunities are made possible by the support of Mums ‘N Dads — our Parent–Teacher Association.

In 2002, we established a self-contained rising 5s class to help accommodate the number of pre-school children in Dronfield.

We have recently created a rear garden outside classroom and the Bubble Room.

More details are given in our School Profile.

The school had a full OFSTED inspection in March 2007. The school was judged to be 'outstanding'.

We aim to:
Provide a caring, happy atmosphere for your child to enjoy school and so develop their full intellectual, social, spiritual and physical potential.
Create a secure, stimulating and fulfilling environment.
Give children the opportunity, incentive, constant encouragement for learning and to provide them with a firm educational foundation.
Celebrate personal achievements and the will to overcome difficulties.
Instil in children a respect for their own and other moral and religious beliefs.
Foster creativity and curiosity.

We believe that partnership between school and home is valuable. We welcome you to contribute during school with a variety of activities and to Mums ‘N Dads.

Starting school

You may register an interest in our school as early as you wish. We hold workshops for children aged 3 and 4 years to get a taster of school life each year.

Call Mrs Lovegrove (Headteacher) or Mrs Forsyth (secretary) for more information and to arrange a visit.

Moving on to Junior School

The majority of our pupils move on to Dronfield Junior School. We maintain a good relationship with the staff to facilitate the childrens' transition to Year 3.
